Trigger

A trigger is the starting point of a workflow in Vince Live. You can choose from several ways to trigger a workflow, such as manually, by a scheduled time, or by an event.

1. Manual

If you choose to trigger the workflow manually, you have the option to customize the fields and user interface that will be presented to the user when the workflow starts. All the fields that have been marked with "From Client" in the API mapping will be available in the trigger. You can move these fields around on the screen by simply dragging and dropping them to their desired location. You can also change the field ID and the text that is presented in each field. By doing this, you can make the fields more user-friendly and easier to understand.

Tooltips for Additional Information

Moreover, you can add tooltips to each field, which can provide additional information about each field and help the user to complete the workflow. You can also define the field type as either text or date, depending on the type of data that the field is intended to capture. This can ensure that the user inputs the correct data format.

Customizing Execution Button and Description

Additionally, you have the option to change the text on the execution button to make it more descriptive and instructive for the user. This can help to reduce errors and make it easier for users to understand what the workflow is doing. You can also change the heading and description of this step to provide more context and information about the workflow. By doing this, you can give the user a better understanding of the purpose of the workflow.

2. Scheduled

One way to trigger a workflow in Vince Live is by scheduling it to run automatically at a specific time or interval. When running a workflow scheduled, you cannot set any values manually. Instead, the workflow needs to contain all the necessary input fields and configurations to run successfully without any human intervention.

To ensure that your workflow runs correctly on schedule, you need to carefully consider the inputs and configurations required by each component in the workflow. You can set default values for these inputs to ensure that the workflow runs smoothly, even if there is no user input.

When scheduling a workflow, you can specify the start time, frequency, and time zone of the execution. This allows you to schedule the workflow to run at a time that is most convenient for your business operations. You can also specify the maximum number of times the workflow should be run and the interval between each execution.

Here's an overview of the options available to configure a scheduler.

Minutes:

Every Minute: Select this option if you want your workflow to run every minute.

Specific Minutes: Specify the exact minutes when you want your workflow to execute.

Every Nth Minute: Choose to run your workflow every "N" minutes, allowing for greater customization.
