Using Fields in Spreadsheet Designer

In Vince Live, after selecting the APIs you want to use, you can easily use all the input or output fields available from the APIs to create or interpret a spreadsheet. These fields are available in the right side-panel of the workflow builder.

Designing the Spreadsheet

To design the spreadsheet, you can drag and drop fields to the spreadsheet designer either one by one or by selecting multiple fields and dragging them in at once. You can also drag fields in between existing fields to rearrange the layout of the spreadsheet.

Removing Fields

If you want to remove selected fields, you can right-click on the field and select "Delete cell" or "Delete content". "Delete cell" would remove the entire column, while "Delete content" would remove the field but keep the column blank.

Configuring Field Presentation

When dragging fields, you can configure whether you want both the field ID and description and select the sequence of how they are presented in the spreadsheet. These rules can be set under the "Options" tab, where you can also set the sheet name for output workflows.

Changing Field Description

Furthermore, you can change the default description of each selected field if you want to change the field description, as sometimes the default description does not match the actual description of the value coming out of your system. The change is done by clicking on the description field after it has been dragged into the spreadsheet designer.

Importing Spreadsheets

If you already have a spreadsheet that you want to use, you can import it into Vince Live under the "Options" tab. If the spreadsheet contains field IDs, Vince Live will automatically map these fields to the selected APIs, starting from the API step. On import of the data from Excel to the system, the APIs will give you a message if the execution is successful or fails. If there is a failure, you will get a message, which can be sent back to the spreadsheet, making it possible to see the failed and successful executions of each row in the spreadsheet.

Mapping Input and Output Fields

In such a scenario, you would first map the input fields, telling Vince Live from where in the spreadsheet you can collect the different fields and records. Then you would select the output fields and place them in the same spreadsheet.

Building a Workflow

A good process for building a complete workflow is to first export the data and build the spreadsheet manually in Vince Live. After that, you can import the spreadsheet for the configuration of import APIs.

Important Note

It is important to note that you must always select APIs before you can work with the spreadsheet designer in Vince Live. By using the spreadsheet designer, you can create efficient and effective workflows that can handle complex operations across multiple systems.
