Introduction

In Vince Live, we have introduced a new toggle called Enforce Sheet Verification in the Excel component. This feature is designed to enhance the reliability and accuracy of your workflows when working with multiple Excel sheets.

Default Settings

• Existing Workflows: The toggle will be OFF by default.
• New Workflows: The toggle will be OFF by default, but users can enable it during workflow creation.

Enabling and Disabling the Toggle

• Existing Workflows: Users can enable the Enforce Sheet Verification toggle. If previously enabled, users can also turn it off as needed.
• New Workflows: Users have the option to turn on the toggle while creating new workflows.

Reason for Implementation

Based on customer feedback, we identified several cases where workflows involve multiple Excel sheets. VXL Live always works with the currently active sheet, which can pose risks when users shift between different sheets. Executing a workflow from the wrong sheet can have severe consequences, including data corruption from API responses.

To mitigate these risks, we implemented the Enforce Sheet Verification feature. This feature ensures that the sheet used during workflow execution matches the sheet specified in the workflow configuration.

How It Works

1. Toggle Enabled:

   • When the Enforce Sheet Verification toggle is enabled and a user tries to execute a workflow from VXL Live, the sheet name mentioned in the workflow must match the sheet name the user is currently working on.
   • If there is a mismatch, the user will receive the following warning message:

   The active sheet 'sheet name' does not match the workflow sheet name 'sheet1'. Please switch to the correct sheet before you continue execution.

   1. Toggle Disabled:
   • When the toggle is disabled, the workflow will execute regardless of the active sheet name, which may lead to potential data mismatches or corruption.

   Conclusion

   The Enforce Sheet Verification toggle is a valuable addition to Vince Live, aimed at improving workflow accuracy and data integrity. By ensuring that workflows interact with the correct Excel sheet, this feature helps prevent errors and enhances the overall user experience.
