Small changes to a function can often be quicker to change directly in the XML file. The VPM server contains an online XML editor to make this an enjoyable experience. The manual edit is triggered from the "Functions" page.

On the "Edit function" page, click edit on the XML file

When typing, the editor will automatically display valid elements or attributes based on the XML schema definition file.
